Celebrity Rides: The Rock

Written by Shabana Motors | Thu, Jun 02, 2016 @ 12:30 AM

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is known as an all-around good guy. Although he got his start in the WWE, The Rock has made his name bigger as an actor, producer and a genuinely nice person that both genders appreciate for a variety of reasons. The Rock has also made a splash with vehicles. Whether driving and posing with amazing rides in Ballers or The Fast and the Furious, or gifting vehicles to unsuspecting friends and family, Johnson boasts both a love and knowledge of sweet whips. Read on to find out what The Rock keeps stashed in his garage.

Ford F-150

The Rock represents truck-lovers everywhere with Ford’s classic pickup. The F-150 has been in production since 1948. Considered one of America’s most popular rides, The Rock had his lifted and personalized to better reflect his style. The custom black rig, worked on by California Custom Sports Trucks, evokes images of beer and BBQ, and all things off-road. It’s a refreshing celebrity choice that hints at humble fun. It’s also the perfect-sized ride for a man who prefers a roomier vehicle. According to his Facebook page, he actually has three Ford trucks. The Rock also happens to be one of Ford’s spokespeople. An avid fan since his teen years, Johnson has been a loyal customer since his first 1977 Thunderbird that he bought for $40.

Chevrolet Chevelle

Allegedly, The Rock’s Chevelle is the cherry on his ice cream cake. Since The Rock openly admits he doesn’t fit in the typical A-lister cars, like LeFerraris and Lamborghinis, he goes for more one-of-a-kind, roomier rides. Orzzz lists the 1971 Chevelle as his favorite, and yes, it’s exactly like the one he drove in The Fast and the Furious (or is it the same one?).

Rolls Royce Wraith

Dwayne Johnson has been seen driving around in a Rolls Royce Wraith. According to UK’s Sun Motors, the car is his. Even if was only a temporary ride, it’s certainly a sweet one. The Wraith goes for around $300,000. It’s the pinnacle of luxury inside and out.

Gifting Rides

The Rock is known for his approachable, down-to-Earth attitude, and for gifting cars to friends and family. Some of his recent gifts include:

  • Esperanza’s Ford Edge – The Rock’s housekeeper got the ultimate bonus with a brand new Ford Edge. The ride is fully loaded, and boasts Ford’s perfect blend of power and fuel economy. It certainly pays to be a friend of The Rock’s.
  • Uncle Tonga’s F-150 – Back in the day, Johnson’s Uncle Tonga lent him a pair of shorts for his first wrestling bout when he couldn’t afford any. A former wrestler himself, Uncle Tonga’s gift kicked off a legendary career. The Rock paid him back this last Christmas, thanking him with a lifted Ford F-150 of his own. The $58,000 gift was nothing compared to the priceless purple trunks.
  • Cousin Sarona’s Lexus RX – Johnson calls his cousin Sarona an amazing woman. To show her how amazing he thinks she is, he bought her a brand new Lexus RX. The luxury crossover starts around $38,000, but most likely, Sarona’s white one is top-of-the-line.

The Rock’s Road Adventures

Dwayne Johnson makes news on a regular basis. Whether he’s rescuing dogs or donating to yet another charity, it’s hard to keep up with all of his adventures. As a driver, he’s been known to make headlines as well. Two of his better-known moments include pulling over for three young fans holding signs that said, “The Rock Please Stop” and “Pull over The Rock.” He did, and took pictures with his smiling adorers.

Recently, Johnson also side-swiped a vehicle. Being the genial guy he is, he happily accepted the driver’s offer to forget the whole thing in return for a photo. The Rock posed with the guy and wrote a story on social media to thank the fan for his forgiving nature.

A Last Look at The Rock’s Cars

The Rock doesn’t tend to flaunt his stuff, but rumor has it he has a nice collection of classic cars hidden away. Auto fanatics can only hope that one day he shares it with the world. Until then, they’ll have to settle for glimpses of The Rock driving around town in something other than a pickup. And who knows, maybe if you hold up a sign, he’ll pull over for you too.
