One of Flo Rida’s most prized possessions is his Bugatti Veyron. It has been with him through the good times and the bad times.
In 2010 Flo Rida embarked on a world tour to promote his Only One Flo (Part 1) album. The “Wild Ones” rapper, whose real name is Tramar Lacel Dillard, needed a secure location to stash his $1.7 million Bugatti, so he made a deal with an exotic car shop in Fort Lauderdale. The agreement allowed Dillard to stow his vehicle in the dealership’s showroom.
Dillard’s Veyron drove crowds of people to the dealership. In addition, the shop’s owners said it helped them sell two other Bugattis. The proprietors were so pleased that they did not charge Dillard for the temporary storage.
On June 9, 2011, Flo Rida was arrested on DUI charges at about 3:45 in the morning. He was driving his Veyron in Miami when he was pulled over by the police for swerving.
After his second failed attempt at walking in a straight line, he reportedly said, “Officers, I can’t do this. I don’t feel I can walk a straight line. I had a few drinks. Let’s try another test. I live on the other side of the bridge. I can make it home.”
A large group of fans and curious onlookers gathered at the scene. They pleaded with officers to let Dillard go. One of them even offered to drive the rapper home, but the police refused.
Dillard’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was .185, which is more than twice the legal limit. A celebrity gossip website had photographed him boozing it up with friends at a birthday party earlier that morning.
He was released from custody several hours later on $2,000 bond. He was eventually offered enrollment in a first-time DUI offenders program in lieu of jail time.
After he was detained by law enforcement, Flo Rida’s Bugatti was saddled on to a flatbed truck. It was almost towed to an impound lot, but Dillard’s friend intervened at the last minute. He was given permission by the police to take possession of the luxury car after paying the $115 towing fee.
In June 2013 Flo Rida’s ostentatious Bugatti became more ostentatious and over-the-top because he had it plated in gold chrome vinyl. The company that wrapped his car had previously customized automobiles for sports teams like the Miami Heat and the Miami Dolphins, as well as for household names like Pitbull and LeBron James. For even more bling, Dillard splurged on matching 24-karat gold Forgiato rims.
Flo Rida pimped his ride just months after he had another brush with the law. In September 2012 various online news media reported that he faced a $1 million tax bill from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for failing to pay his taxes for three years. The feds had placed a lien on his south Florida estate, and he was in jeopardy of losing his house.
