1) TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot
The annual TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot is the second largest footrace in Texas, and one of the best places to take your ride on Thanksgiving. The event will take place the morning of Thanksgiving Day, which is Thursday November 27, 2014 at 7 AM, starting at the Dillard’s department store by the Galleria. The Turkey Trot is broken down into three races; a 10k run, 5k run and kids’ run. All three races are part of the fundraising event which provides needed financial support to the Neighborhood Centers efforts, which include support programs such as Sheltering Arms Senior Services. The goal for attendance at the 2014 trot has been set at 15,000, and that goal should be easily met. Not only should you consider bringing your ride to the TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot the morning of Thanksgiving Day, you should also sign you and your family up to run, volunteer, support a racer or simply donate as a way of giving back to your community on a day of thanks and love.
